Liposuction
Liposuction, also known as "lipoplasty", can help to contour the body
by removing unwanted fat from specific areas. There have been several
developments in liposuction technique in the last 10 years. New liposuction
techniques introduced include the tumescent technique, ultrasound assisted
lipoplasty, and the super wet technique These new methods give patients
more precise results and faster recovery times. Liposuction is an excellent
supplement to exercise and eating healthy. Some fatty areas refuse to
respond to traditional weight loss methods. Liposuction can help you
to remove these to help enhance your body shape. Fat can be removed
from the buttocks, thighs, knees, abdomen, hips, upper arms, neck, chin
and cheeks.
A small, inconspicuos incision is made, near where the fat will be
removed. A narrow tube used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath
the skin. The tube is used to breaking up the fat cells by pushing then
pulling it through the fat layer. After the fat is broken p it is suctioned
out. Often before liposuction begins a fluid solution containing saline
and a local anesthetic is injected into the area to be treated. This
helps to break up the fatty deposits, reduce blood loss, manage pain
and minimize brusing.
It is important to remember that Liposuction cannot change your body
type. You should ideally be of normal weight for your height. The best
candidates for Liposuction surgery have isolated pockets of excess fat
and good skin elasticity.
